The SAVA region, North east of Mada is the world's first Vanilla producer : here, in the factories, you will see impressive heaps of Mada's brown gold. SAVA is also an ecotourism hotpsot: Marojejy National Park, one of the most exceptional Parks in Madagascar, classified UNESCO World Heritage. Marojejy rugged massif boasts low altitude rainforest and high mountain tundra; it is home to 118 species of birds (amongst which the helmeted vanga shrike, endemic to the region), 12 of lemurs (amongst which the endangered aye aye and silked sifaka endemic to Marojejy), 140 species of reptiles and amphibians, 275 types of ferns, 35 of palms... Untamed misty moutains, primary rainforest, Vanilla perfumed far East towns and the Indian Ocean: this is SAVA!
